Commands used to update the Kali Linux installation:
apt-get update
This command downloads the package lists from the repositories and retrieve information on the newest versions of packages and their dependencies.
apt-get dist-upgrade
This command installs the newest versions of all packages currently installed on the system, from the sources updated as per the previous command. This command also intelligently handle the dependencies, so it might remove obsolete packages or add new ones.
